Voyuer

I spent the weekend at Surfer’s Paradise on The Gold Coast (about an hour’s drive from Brisbane) and this was my view from the 19th floor. I really enjoyed practising my night photography 🙂

“I really knew when I started photographing I wanted it to be a way of knowing different cultures, not just in other countries but in this country, too, and I knew I wanted to be a voyeur.”

Kurilpa Bridge

So I have a thing for bridges and night photography and I’m sure most of you have noticed this by now. I just can’t seem to help myself 🙂 This is a shot of Kurilpa Bridge, a pedestrian/cycle bridge which opened in 2009. It is the world’s largest hybrid tensegrity bridge. The bridge is lit with a sophisticated LED lighting system which can be programmed to produce an array of different lighting effects (ok I have a thing for LED lighting too). The lights are solar powered which I think is pretty cool. The other bridge in the distance is The William Jolly Bridge which was opened in 1932. Quite a contrast in structure.
