I’m not a big fan of the Gold Coast’s never ending development and these new building’s are no exception. The Jewel, comprising 3 towers, tower over surrounding buildings making them appear minute in comparison while blocking out sunshine and beach views. I found them to be an intrusive phallic structure that can’t be ignored and constantly in your face so to speak but that’s progress in a popular tourist town I guess. I must admit that the architecture is quite impressive and it is sure be another Australian landmark.
Stretched across 130m of absolute beach frontage, the site sits over 2.8 acres and includes luxury residential apartments, an internationally rated 5-star hotel including a Michelin Star restaurant and a grand ballroom. The Jewel is due for completion in mid 2020.
We just spent a week in beautiful Adelaide in South Australia so I will be adding a more photos soon. Here are a few to start on my Adelaide series. Watch this space 🙂
This tree stands alone on the shore at Wellington Point. It makes and interesting subject.
Sorry I’ve got nothing for Halloween. We don’t traditionally celebrate it in Australia and I’m kinda glad. I think I’d get spooked.
Here’s another photo of Wellington Point. The shore was lined with washed up sea sponges of various sizes. I have more which I’ll post soon.
We went to the beach this weekend and I took my first long exposure beach photos. I have been admiring these sorts of photos for a while so I thought I’d give it a go. These were taken at Marcoola Beach near Coolum on the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane. There are a few rocky areas along the beach which were perfect but the tide was not as high as I would have liked. It was good practise though.
These photos were taken from the back river side of Surfers Paradise on a beautiful crisp night.I managed to catch a lit up gondola as it passed us.
