This beautiful old Victorian Gothic style church was opened in 1889. Albert Street Uniting Church (originally Methodist) once stood alone but is now dwarfed by surrounding sky scrapers. King George Square is right across the road. The church is understandably a favourite for weddings.
Brilliant choice of subject and a smart shoot.

What great photos! And what a beautiful building. There is incongruence in these pictures isnt there?! Because the modern buildings seem to take over, rhe church looks almost superimposed! 🙂 xx

Yes it does doesn’t it Christine. It’s a shame it’s surrounded by so many tall and modern buildings. xx

A shame there’s not a large garden around the church. That would be really lovely.

Yes it is a pity. The city just seemed to grow around it.

Nice shots, of a lovely building. Reminds me a bit of a similar place here in Denver — an old church downtown, that a big office building built around… it’s an interesting juxtaposition of old and new…..

What a beauty! It was interesting too to see how the church fares in scale to the buildings around it-a very interesting perspective-

It sure is and it’s funny how we’re just so used to seeing it here but when you look at it in the photos it really stands out. Thanks 🙂
