This is my late dad’s old camera. I’m not sure exactly how old it is but I know he had it when he married my mother in 1957 and that these cameras were made from 1951. It’s a Braun/Nornberg Paxette and was made in Nuremburg, Germany. It would have been a high quality camera back then.

  1. It ten to one has a Zeiss lense and therefore should have been superb. If you still have it hold on it is a collectors item and sentimentally have more value to you than what dollars can match and I am speaking of dollars more the five times your dad payed for it..

    • You know your cameras! Yes, I still have it and you’re right, it has more sentimental value to me than monetary value. He did take some pretty nice photos with it too. Thanks for the info :)

  2. First: Your photo is fantastic beautiful. How nice to know that You have also old camera and I am sure that it is high quality camera. Carl Zeiss lenses are high quality lenses and that is why Finnish company Nokia uses them in their smart phones.

Secondly: I have also old camera which I got when I was 10 years old. I have a photo from it in my About me page. In 1952 in Helsinki, Finland we had Olympic Games and it was then when my late father bought it. Only three of them were imported to Finland and I have yet one. It is so called Bellows camera.

Thank You for this interesting post.

    • Thank you very much for the lovely comments. Yes I saw your first camera. It’s a wonderful piece and amazing that you have one of the three imported to Finland. Old cameras are fascinating. Thanks so much for stopping by :)

  3. the braun paxette range included differing models, some with Kreuznach lenses, others with Zeiss.
i couldnt make out from your photo what kind of lens yours has, but as you say, thats immaterial…its what the sentimental value is to you which is more important!
